an introduction, £60, Weds 27 Sept 2017
Full day workshop at the Walled Garden Treberfydd on Wednesday 27 September 2017
An introduction to plant propagation techniques at the Walled Garden including sowing seed, pricking out and potting on, and plant cuttings and division.
We will look at the wide variety of hardy plants that are used to propagate the nursery stock, and also see the nursery propagation facilities and equipment. We’ll then work hands on through a range of propagation techniques for different plants.
Participants will be able to take sowings and cuttings home, and will also have a chance to ask questions about plants in their own gardens aswell as those in the Walled Garden.
The workshop will run from 10am to 4pm including a two course lunch. Coffee will be available beforehand from 9.30am and tea and cake afterwards from 4pm, so there will be plenty of time to wander around the Walled Garden and buy plants.
Cost £60 per head, maximum 20 participants.
At the Walled Garden Treberfydd we grow hardy plants in the nursery beds and borders and use them to propagate the nursery plant stock. The newly planted beds hold a collection of plants sourced mainly from small specialist nurseries or local gardens and then trialled for hardiness and quality. Everything you see growing is also available for sale.
